ALBAWABA - A ferry sank on early Monday morning in the southern Philippines, killing at least 18; while 24 are still missing, the coast guard confirmed. Authorities said that the ferry had more than 350 people onboard.

The ferry, called MV Trisha Kerstin 3, sent a help signal after four hours of departing from the Port of Zamboanga City [at around 1:50 a.m.].

AFP reported that the governor of Basilan province posted footage of survivors being wrapped in blankets and placed on gurneys as rescue workers are still searching for the missing people.

At least 317 people have been rescued until now, according to the Philippine Coast Guard data, while the location of 24 others is still unknown.
