Qatar Tourism Showcased at World’s Top Travel Show

European Business Travellers to Contribute to Gulf State’s Expected 1.4m Visitors in 2010;

Grand Hyatt Doha to Open on 15 March 2009

According to industry experts attending the world’s leading travel trade show, ITB Berlin, Qatar will be the exciting new travel destination of choice for those wishing to experience a quality destination for business, meetings, culture and sport.

The Qatar Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, which will exhibit at ITB, anticipates that visitor arrivals to Qatar will boom to an expected 1.4 million in 2010, compared with 2005 figures when visitor arrivals to the country stood at 600,000.

“Qatar is a world-class destination with 20% annual growth targets for inbound travel.  As the world’s fastest growing economy, Qatar also offers an upscale world of leisure and cultural attractions,” said Ahmed Al-Nuaimi, Chairman of the Qatar Tourism & Exhibitions Authority.

Grand Hyatt Doha will offer luxurious accommodation to the growing number of visitors to Qatar.  The hotel will boast 249 guestrooms, alongside a residential complex available for short- and long-term rentals adjacent to the main hotel, as well as two swimming pools and a private beach.

“Grand Hyatt Doha, which opens this month, will offer five-star accommodation and leisure facilities to the expected surge of inbound business travellers.  Qatar provides an ideal holiday destination, conference venue or stop-off for travellers from Europe wishing to travel further East,” says Frank Beiler, Executive Assistant Manager for Marketing, Grand Hyatt Doha.

The hotel is located in Doha’s new West Bay Lagoon district, which is just minutes from the city’s financial and commercial centres, places of cultural and historical interest, and Doha International Airport.

The hotel, with its magnificent Old World design, will provide the highest quality accommodation to the growing numbers of travellers visiting Qatar.  The hotel’s interior is inspired by local architecture and blends Arabian design with contemporary materials.

ITB will run between 11 and 15 March 2009 in Berlin.  Representatives from Grand Hyatt Doha can be found in Hall 22.B / 206.
