Qtel today announced it had encountered significant success from its presence at the Qatar Career Fair held in the UK last month.

Among the delegation attending the third round of this annual event, which is organized by the Qatari Embassy in London, were H.E Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman, Qtel and Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al-Thani, Executive Director, Group HR. They were joined by several other key representatives from Qtel HR, Business Solutions and Communications teams.

Because the number of Qatari national students accepted at renowned UK universities continues to increase, the event grows in importance for Qtel every year.

As the official event sponsor, and by bringing a high-ranking delegation to London, Qtel highlighted its commitment to the Qatarisation and reiterated its strategy to recruit the brightest and the best. Early results suggest that this year’s crop of applicants is the strongest yet enjoyed by the company, particularly as it looks to build the next generation of leadership for its local and international operations.

Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al-Thani, Executive Director, Group HR says: “We have a wide range of programs all customized to encourage young people to play a part in our global success. Our hiring process is also designed to help people determine their career aspirations and pursue the path that best suits their talents through a strong on-site job experience. We encourage them to pursue higher education degrees and support them with special orientation and update workshops.”

The Qtel HR team has organized several workshops and presentations during the event to introduce Qatari nationals studying abroad to the company’s employment, training, and employee development programs. In addition, Qtel also outlined its special internships and scholarships for students.

Because of its ongoing belief in national potential and capabilities, Qtel will continue to fuel the future of Qatari youth through enhanced working conditions and through providing an employee-friendly environment.

Building on its success at the London event, Qtel is also set to participate in the upcoming Qatar Career Fair to be held 14-18 of March, 2010.
