raad promoted in major cnn international ad sales restructure
CNN International ad sales has announced the promotion of Rani R Raad to Senior Vice President Continental and Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa, based between the news network’s regional headquarters in London and the Paris office. He takes on responsibility for territories bringing in the highest revenue territories for CNN International around the world, managing sales teams in London, Paris and Frankfurt, as well as an extensive network of international representatives.
Raad’s promotion sees him add the key markets of France, Germany and Switzerland, as well as the emerging territories of central and eastern Europe, to the territories he covered for five years as Vice President, leading the advertising sales team for the Middle East, Africa, Greece, Cyprus, Spain and Portugal, and the CIS countries.
In announcing the appointment, Jonathan Davies, Executive Vice President of CNN International Ad Sales, said: “Rani has a remarkable track record of success. He has literally transformed the performance of his sales teams since taking the helm five years ago. He is an exceptional leader whose unstinting commitment and innovation has led to mould-breaking initiatives that have delivered new clients as well as retaining existing ones, in both developed and developing markets.”
“Rani will lead his new teams into the next phase of development to ensure CNN International’s ad sales proposition remains the most comprehensive among its peers.”
At CNN, Raad has driven numerous initiatives in the company. This has included the development of the TASK (Tourism Advertising Solutions & Knowledge) Group in 2007, created to provide a strategically targeted consultancy service for CNN International’s many tourism clients.
Raad has pioneered new and groundbreaking multi-platform initiatives out of many different countries, with several organisations choosing CNN as their sole platform for international advertising. In 2007 he was integral to developing the association between the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the newly launched fifteen minute regional business show, ‘CNN Marketplace Middle East’, a new format of business show on CNN. He has also brokered a number of major programme sponsorship deals on CNN International. These have included the ‘Inside the Middle East’ sponsorship deal with Egypt’s Orascom Telecom, now in its fourth year, a sponsorship with ARTOC across ‘Quest’ and ‘CNN Business Traveller’ and the two-year deal with Qatar Airways for the launch of the ‘Quest’ show.
CNN International continues to be the international news channel of choice for reaching the business elite, leading all international news channels in all measurements. In 2007 the Middle East Business Elite Survey 2007 confirmed that high-level managers and key decision makers in the Middle East region prefer watching news on CNN, with 321% more viewers on a daily basis than its nearest competitor. CNN International is the channel of choice for opinion formers, international decision makers, top management and C suite viewers, a position which only increases when it is taken as a combined TV and online destination.
