The Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) was presented last night with the prestigious award of the 'Best Emerging Free Zone of the Year' Award, sponsored by (Mela) the Middle East Logistics Awards for the second year in a row.

Oussama El Omarim, the zone's CEO said this great achievement of the RAK FTZ is directly attributed to the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and the unlimited support the zone has received from H.H Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

"The RAK FTZ received this prestigious award in recognition of its outstanding performance and this success is survived only by the groundbreaking achievements of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah which has been striving to assist the RAK FTZ in achieving success," he said. "The success of Ras Al Khaimah in the past few years has been a major factor in the success of the RAK FTZ," he added.

El Omari said that the fact the RAK FTZ won this award, which was reviewed by a panel of well-known logistics experts from around the globe, clearly indicates the zone's successful record of accomplishments and solid determination to occupy a prestigious place on the international map of free zones.

"As the second year winner of the award in row motivate the RAK FTZ employees to be more hardworking and more dedicated to their work to land on more and better successes in the future and enhance the zone's record of accomplishments," he said.

MELA aims to honor companies that demonstrate stellar performance in the highly dynamic and competitive world of logistics business. MELA is a brand of excellence that puts the awards winners above the rest.
"This prize will enhance the trust of the investors from around the world and attract the investors to start their operations from the RAK FTZ, as it implements international standards in all the fields" he said. El Omari stressed that the RAK FTZ under the leadership of Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi is keen to preserve the same track and to enhance the zone's services and facilities to higher world standards.

The awards ceremony was held at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai last Tuesday and was attended by scores of free zones' representatives, and key figures of the logistics industry
