ALABWABA - The Ukrainian air force reported Tuesday that Russia had launched 188 drones on the majority of Ukraine in an overnight attack, calling it a record amount of drones used in one attack.

The Air Force claims that while the majority of the drones were intercepted, damage was done to vital infrastructure like the national power grid and apartment buildings. The 17 targeted regions did not immediately disclose any casualties.

Since the middle of the year, Russia has been launching increasingly intense drone, missile, and glide bomb attacks on civilian regions of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's General Staff reported on Tuesday that almost half of the clashes along the front line happened around Pokrovsk and Kurakhove in the Donetsk area in the previous 24 hours.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to X to comment on the Russian attack, praising the efforts of Ukrainian forces in repelling some of the drones attacking Ukrainian authorities.

"Last night, Russia attacked Ukraine, launching a record number of strike drones—188—against our people. I want to thank our defenders of the sky for repelling the attack. Around 80 drones were shot down, and more than 90 were lost due to location disruption" he wrote.

"Unfortunately, there has been damage to our critical infrastructure, and the situation in Ternopil remains challenging. All services and repair crews are on-site, doing everything to assist people and restore electricity as quickly as possible," Zelenskyy continued.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that its soldiers destroyed 39 Ukrainian drones overnight over Russian territory near the Ukrainian border.
