ALBAWABA - Russia's TASS news agency revealed that the country's FSB security service reported Thursday that they targeted ISIS cell that had plans to carry "terrorist attack" in Moscow.
In detail, the local media agency said that FSB killed militants of the Islamic State after information that they were planning a "terrorist attack" on a Moscow synagogue.
An ISIS cell based in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow, had been planning to carry out a "terrorist attack" against Jewish worshippers at a synagogue in Moscow, but FSB succeded in targeting it.
"While being arrested, the terrorists put up armed resistance to the Russian FSB officers, and as a result were neutralized by return fire," TASS said citing the security service.
The statement also reads: "Firearms, ammunition, as well as components for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device were found and seized."
The Russian FSB didn't mention the number of people killed in the operation, nor did reveal their identities. However, it said that they were members of the Afghan branch of Islamic State.
