SAMENA Telecommunications Council releases the inaugural edition of ‘SAMENA Visions 2008’

SAMENA Telecommunications Council, the non-profit telecommunications association that aims to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing across 25 countries in the SAMENA region, has released its inaugural edition of ‘SAMENA Visions 2008’. With collaboration and mutual co-operation becoming imperative in the rapidly growing SAMENA telecom industry, SAMENA Telecommunications Council has published this authoritative and ready reference guide, in an attempt to promote conjoined efforts among the diverse players for tackling industry issues.

Thomas Wilson, Executive Managing Director and Founder, SAMENA Telecommunications Council says, “Entitled SAMENA Visions 2008, it represents a major milestone and achievement for the region’s premiere telecommunications umbrella organisation and is the first of future guides and papers we hope to publish in support of our mission and advocacy. It complements our endeavour to continuously provide expertise, insights and knowledge to the telecommunications industry to facilitate expansion and better utilization of telecommunications in the region.”

Estimated to reach three billion by end-2008, the global cellular subscriber base is speculated to be strongly driven by the SAMENA region which has witnessed increased attention and investments in the last few years.

“This publishing project is a compilation of insights and experiences of leading experts and telecom operators in the SAMENA region, as well as a database of contacts and information making it a valuable resource tool for telecom operators and other parties interested in the past, present and future of the telecoms industry in the region. SAMENA VISIONS 2008 presents a viable platform to enable the industry to prepare for the upcoming opportunities”, said Thomas Wilson.

SAMENA Visions 2008, the 400 plus page reference guide reflects the collective initiatives and experiences of the organisations and telecom operators from all of the continents covered by the council. Targeted at telecom operators, vendors, consultants, institutions, new entrants, academia and investors besides others, it will be published twice a year and sold and distributed in four continents namely Asia, North America, Europe and Africa.

SAMENA Telecommunications Council is a tri-regional, non-profit telecommunications association that represents South Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African telecoms operators, manufacturers, regulatory authorities, and academia.
