Sharjah Tatweer Forum holds its second briefing session in the Eastern Region
Initiative is part of the forum’s strategy engage with youth, promote its role and activities, enhance the networking environment in the eastern region
Sharjah Tatweer Forum (Tatweer), the ambitious Emarati initiative formed by a decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council Ruler of Sharjah and the Honorary Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer Forum to develop the skills and competencies of National youth in Sharjah, foster partnerships between the private and public sectors, and facilitate the implementation of innovative new ideas that support the overall competitiveness of the Emirate of Sharjah, recently held a briefing session at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dibba Al Hisn to discuss the Forum’s achievements and programs as well as its future plans and strategies to an emerging pool of young talents from across all sectors within the Emirate.
Sharjah Tatweer Forum works on attracting and developing young leaders through a series of programs and activities, encourage communication and networking between the public and private sectors in Sharjah with the aim of achieving sustainable development in the Emirate.
Hussain Al-Mahmoudi, Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer Forum, said, “Through our programmes and activities, we aim for developing the skills and competencies of the National youth in Sharjah in the various sectors; the social, economic and cultural fields. We also encourage entrepreneurship, innovation and excellence in business and administration and encourage the National youth to invest in small and medium-sized enterprises.”
Mr. Al Mahmoudi added “The Forum aims at enhancing the overall competitiveness of Sharjah through human capital development, fostering public private partnerships, and encouraging the private sector to play a greater role in the sustainable development of the Emirate. We have been able over the past three years to present numerous programs and activities that support our objectives, including Tatweer Leadership Program which will begin its third session next September. We also have the Public Private Partnership Program which has been a great success this year with the participation of moiré than 30 heads of government departments and private sector companies. This particular program represents a unique opportunity to open channels of communications between the two sectors and to bring points of view closer.”
The session shed light on the Forum’s objectives and achievements over the past period, the calendar of activities for the coming year as well as the agreements and memorandums of understanding STF has signed with various international organizations, government departments, and academic institutions and especially with the private sector. The meeting also included a briefing about programs that STF has started recently and plans to continue over the coming years such as “Tatweer’s Professional Development Center” and the “Bright Ideas” program conducted in cooperation with Shell and Emirates Foundation.
Members of Tatweer have the opportunity to network with a broad group of emerging young leaders who continuously present new and innovative ideas and projects to both the private and public sectors. Members also have the opportunity to participate in the various programs, workshops, conferences and activities on offer by Sharjah Tatweer Forum. The Forum is also committed to support member’s ideas and to review the possibilities of promoting and marketing these ideas with both the private and public sector.
Mr. Al Mahoudi explained “with the increase in the Forum’s activities and the number of members which has reached 240 members so far, it became necessary to promote the Forum outside of Sharjah City and to engage with youth in the Eastern region and possibly to hold a number of programs and workshops in the eastern region. We plan to hold a number of such briefing sessions in Al Dhaid and Kalba in the coming period.”
Sharjah Tatweer Forum is an ideal example of supporting economic development through fostering partnerships and developing ambitious programs that aim at nurturing and supporting the skills and competencies of the Emirati youth in Sharjah.
