U.S. and British warplanes “violated Iraq's airspace in a desperate bid to Impair (the) solid will of (the) Iraqis and undermine Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the official Iraq News Agency reported Monday.
A spokesman for the Air Defense Command told the news agency that at 09:30 (local time) on Monday, the U.S. and British warplanes “violated Iraq’s space coming from their bases in Kuwait backed by AWACS inside their bases in Saudi Arabia”.
He added that the “enemy ravens” carried out 41 armed sorties and patrolled civil areas in Basra, Qurna, Kala’t Saleh, Artawi, al- Bassiya , al- Jeleba , suq-elsheuk, Nassiria, shatra, Al-Rrifa’a, El-Rmetha, El-Samaua, El-salman, El-lsaf, Ashbsha.
The spokesman further added that “Iraq's defense units repulsed the enemy planes and forced them to retreat to bases in Kuwait.” (Albawaba.com)
