Strong earthquake destroys 13 buildings, kills two in China

ALBAWABA - A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Guangxi region in southern China on Monday, leaving two dead, state media revealed.

At least 13 buildings collapsed in the strong quake, state media reported.

The quake took place at 12.21 a.m. (1621 GMT), Xinhua reported, adding that one person remained missing as of the morning.

State broadcaster CCTV identified the people killed in the quake as a couple: a 63-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman.

It noted that the search and rescue operation is still ongoing for one missing person.

More than 7,000 people were moved from the affected area.
