ALBAWABA- The Sudanese army has made significant advances in Khartoum, seizing key locations, including the Al-Rumaila neighborhood, the medical supply headquarters, and the national currency printing facility.
According to field reports, the army’s Armored Corps has taken full control of Al-Rumaila, Al-Sajana, and the industrial district west of the capital, bringing it closer to Al-Ghaba Street, a key route leading to central Khartoum, where RSF forces remain entrenched.
Military sources indicate that the army is preparing to merge with other units stationed in the Al-Muqran area and the General Command in the city center.
The latest offensive is part of a broader military operation to reclaim control of Khartoum after months of conflict with the RSF. Since the war erupted in April 2023, the fighting has claimed over 20,000 lives and displaced nearly 14 million people, according to UN estimates.
The army has also recaptured Khartoum’s industrial zone and is advancing toward the strategic currency printing facility and a military base previously controlled by the RSF.
Reports suggest that an imminent breakthrough in Al-Muqran could strengthen the army’s position, allowing it to push eastward toward the Republican Palace and fully reconnect with the General Command.
Sudanese military officials confirmed their latest gains, stating that the army had made "significant progress" in securing key areas. Meanwhile, video footage has emerged showing a heavy military presence in the industrial district.
In parallel, the army is also advancing in Abu Quta, a town in Al-Jazira State, where it has taken control of several areas. According to correspondents, the RSF is not merely retreating but is undergoing a rapid collapse, first evident in Al-Jazira State and now in Khartoum itself.
The RSF’s losses have been compounded by the army’s swift takeover of Khartoum Bahri and the strategic Al-Jaili oil refinery, leading to mass withdrawals and heavy casualties within its ranks.
