ALBAWABA - At least four people were injured in a car and stabbing attack at a synagogue in Manchester city, the BBC reported. The suspect was shot, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.

The attacker was believed to have been killed, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham told the media.

A stabbing attack was reported at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester, and the British police said they received a report and dispatched officers to the location, Sky News reported on Thursday.

The BBC added that police received a call to the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, on Middleton Road, Crumpsall, at 9.31 a.m. from a person, who said that he had witnessed a car being driven towards members of the public, adding that he saw one man being stabbed.

Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham revealed the "immediate danger appears to be over" after reports of a "serious incident" in Crumpsall, north of Manchester city in the United Kingdom.

The police have closed Middleton Road between Wilton Road and Crumpsall Lane.

The attack in Manchester comes on Yom Kippur, which is believed to be the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar.
