Syrian Prime Minister, Naji Al Etri, on Friday denied allegations directed to Syria over facilitating the penetration of fighters into the Iraqi territories, saying that his country arrested in August more than 1,500 individuals who tried to enter Iraq.
Etri's remarks to a German newspaper also affirmed that peace in Iraq could not be attained without the US withdrawal from there as "the problem lies in the presence of the US troops in Iraq who brought with them division between Sunni and Shiite people". He added that Syria was against the "terrorist" acts which spread after the US had invaded Iraq.
