Five Taliban militants, including a group commander, were killed during a clash in the Gilan district of southern Ghazni province on Tuesday, an official said.

Police chief Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked Afghan Local Police (ALP) posts in Shinkai locality at around 5:00am.

He said Taliban commander Qari Hassan was among those killed in the ensuing firefight. The bodies of the assailants and their weapons were still lying at the scene.
