The Third Student Parliament opened its session in Tehran Monday with President Mohammad Khatami participating in the event.
Members of the students parliament are to present a plaque of honor to the president as the founder of the body. The parliament is commissioned to select its speaker and vice speaker during its two-day meeting, <i>IRNA</i> reported.
It will also focus on such issues as the university entrance exams, corresponding education, and the leisure time of students as some of the hot topics currently debated by young Iranian students.
The students parliament is composed of 150 representatives of high school students nationwide of whom 74 are females.
The secretary general of the World's Children Parliament, representatives of the students belonging to religious minorities as well as representatives of Iranian students living abroad are the guests of honor in the Third Students Parliament meeting.
