Sixteen suspects were arrested, on Tuesday afternoon, in the vicinity of the military barracks of Ben Guerdane after gun shots were heard.
The suspects were transferred to the National Guard district in Ben Guerdane, Defence Ministry spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Belhassan Oueslati told TAP.
Thirty-six Daesh militants were killed and seven others arrested, according to the last toll of the Daesh attack on Ben Guerdane early Monday morning. The attack also left almost 20 dead and 17 wounded among security and military officers as well as civilians.
Ben Guerdane lies along the Tunisian-Libyan border. Daesh has a strong presence in Libya and is trying to expand its scope into Tunisia. Tunisia remains under an official "state of emergency" after a recent string of attacks.
