Turkish security forces on Wednesday captured 147 illegal immigrants from Asia hiding in a warehouse in Istanbul, Anatolia news agency reported.
One of the immigrants was wounded when he fell over while trying to flee when police raided the building. The group included nationals of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The Turkish owner of the warehouse was also taken into custody, while police launched a search for the driver of a truck, which brought the illegals to the building late on Tuesday, according to the agency.
Turkey is a major route for Asian and African migrants seeking to enter Europe illegally with the help of smuggling rings. (Albawaba.com)
