Israeli undercover forces raided the Al-Wehdeh hotel in central Ramallah on Tuesday and detained a Palestinian accused of taking part in an attack on Israeli forces on Oct. 30 in Nablus.

Locals told Ma'an that Israeli undercover forces smashed the main doors of the hotel before entering the building. They then broke into several rooms before detaining Basel Fares Ibrahim al-Naasan, 20.

The forces, undercover agents disguised as Palestinians from the Mustaribeen special unit, also confiscated a computer containing surveillance camera footage, witnesses told Ma'an.

Al-Naasan was shot and injured at the Zatara checkpoint on Oct. 30 while riding with Qassem Mahmoud Sabaneh on a motorcycle.

An Israeli army spokesperson said at the time that two Palestinians tried to stab an Israeli border policeman at the checkpoint south of Nablus, with both attackers shot.

Locals said Basel had been giving his friend Qassem a ride to work in the al-Mughayyir village where they both work when Israeli forces opened fire at them.

Sabaneh was killed while initial reports said al-Naasan had been detained by Israeli forces after being critically wounded. Later it emerged that he had been released to the Palestinian Red Crescent and taken for surgery at a hospital in Nablus.

He was then transferred to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah where he was later released after his condition had stabilized. He was due to return for another surgery soon, a Ma'an reporter said.

Israeli forces have raided Basel's home in al-Mughayyir east of Ramallah and taken measurements to prepare for a demolition order.
