US and Singaporean nationals who went missing were found in Yemen and taken to neighboring Oman, Oman News Agency reported Monday.

Oman "coordinated with concerned parties in Yemen to search for the American citizen and the Singaporean," ONA said.

The Washington Post reported earlier this week that several Americans are believed to have been taken hostage by Houthi rebels in a prison near the capital, Sanaa. US officials told the Post they have made efforts to rescue the citizens by communicating with intermediary humanitarian groups located in Yemen.

Oman is hosting talks between the US and Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

Muscat is the only Gulf Cooperation Council nation not to have joined Saudi forces in the fight against Houthis. The sultanate holds close ties with both Iran and Washington and has often acted as the intermediate between the two, according to AFP.
