ALBAWABA - The United States is planning to withdraw all of its approximately 1,000 troops from Syria within the next two months.

The Wall Street Journal said that Washington will end its presence in Syria once the Syrian government takes full control over the country and after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a key element in the fight against ISIS, merges into state institutions.

In addition, CBS also reported, citing unnamed American officials, that the forces in Syria will be withdrawn after being present for a long time to help in the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS).

This decision follows the recent withdrawal of U.S. forces from several bases in Syria, including the al-Tanf base on the Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian border and the al-Shaddadi base in southern al-Hasakah province.
