Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (“Huawei”), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has been awarded the commercial contract to build the UMTS/GSM network for Tajikistan by multinational mobile operator VimpelCom.
According to the contract, Huawei will provide a unified 2G/3G Softswitch Core Network, New Generation Node B and related service platforms to build a UMTS/GSM network covering the whole country for TaCom, a subsidiary of VimpelCom in Tajikistan. Huawei’s leading unified 2G/3G Softswitch Core Network based on R4 architecture greatly simplifies network structure and reduces OPEX and CAPEX. Huawei New Generation Node B adopts high-efficiency digital amplifier and multi-carrier TRX, and supports full-performance HSDPA (High Speed Data Packet Access), so it can not only dramatically improve the network capability, but also cut down TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for operators.
To date, as one of the mainstream 3G suppliers in the world, Huawei has won 29 UMTS commercial contracts, and established partnership with leading global telecom operators. Huawei leads the market in New Generation Node B, and has deployed it in several countries and regions including Portugal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Holland, Poland and Hong Kong, among others. As of April 2006, Huawei is the number one vendor of Mobile Softswitches, and serves over 100 million subscribers. With its customised and innovative 3G solutions, Huawei is winning accolades from leading mobile operators.
With more than 50 million subscribers in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, VimpelCom is a leading mobile operator that has previously deployed Huawei’s advanced mobile solutions.
