According to Iraqi authorities, a suicide car bomb killed two police officers and injured eight more civilians west of Baghdad Monday.  The attack occurred in the Anbar province capital of Ramadi, on a street near local government offices.

According to Maj. Gen. Tareq Youssef, the police chief of Anbar Province, the officers were checking on the car that was parked in a non-parking zone, when the bomb exploded.  Two children were injured in the blast.  The city of Ramadi was once a stronghold for al-Qaeda and other insurgent groups since the United States invasion in 2003.

Two policemen were also killed near the norther city of Mosul, police said.  Gunmen shot an off-duty policeman in central Mosul, 390 KM north of Baghdad.  Another policeman died when a roadside bomb he was trying to defuse went off.
