ALBAWABA - As the Israeli military continues its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, thousands of Palestinians are being compelled to migrate southward.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has reported that the number of displaced Palestinians has exceeded 657,000. A significant portion of these displaced individuals lacks adequate shelter and faces a scarcity of basic necessities.

The Israeli military's attacks on the Gaza Strip, initiated on October 7, have persisted for 85 consecutive days. The indiscriminate airstrikes conducted by the Israeli military across the region have resulted in the loss of lives for thousands of Palestinians and forced millions into displacement.

In the central Gaza Strip camps of Maghazi, Nuseyrat, and Bureij, frequently targeted by the Israeli military, thousands of Palestinians are loading their belongings onto vehicles and migrating to the southern city of Rafah in search of a safer environment.

"The number of displaced Palestinians has surpassed 657,000," stated the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The announcement emphasized the dire situation, indicating that a significant portion of the displaced population lacks proper accommodation. The forced displacement of Palestinians due to the Israeli occupation was condemned in the statement, confirming that over 150,000 individuals, mostly children and women, have nowhere to go.

The UNRWA also highlighted the dire conditions in which displaced Palestinians are living, lacking basic necessities such as healthy food and clean water, and facing increased suffering due to extreme cold and the prevalence of infectious diseases.
