President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan discussed on Tuesday Islamic issues with visiting Muslim scholars and preachers, who are in the country to contribute to the religious activities during Ramadan, the Emirates' official news agency (WAM) reported.
Sheikh Zayed discussed with his guests the current Islamic issues and efforts being made by Muslim scholars to serve Islam based on Islamic values and tolerance.
Sheikh Zayed urged the scholars to exert more efforts to propagate Islam through the religion's principles of compassion, love and tolerance, said the agency.
WAM quoted Sheikh Zayed as saying that "Islam knows no terror, which the terrorists practice today," adding that Islam is 'totally innocent' of the terrorist acts of those people.
Sheikh Zayed, who condemned the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the US that claimed the lives of thousands of innocent lives, said that "terrorism is abhorred by Islam and other monotheist religions. Terrorism is the enemy of mankind."
The scholars expressed their pride in Sheikh Zayed for his wise leadership, his positive stances on Arab national issues and his support for Islamic issues.
The UAE, among other Muslim and Arab countries, is exerting efforts to polish the image of Islam after the terrorist attacks on the US were linked to professed Muslims -Albawaba.com
