UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan AL Nahyan has issued his orders to the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS to increase the daily ration of Ifftar meals for the fasting Muslims at the Al Aqsa Mosque throughout the month of Ramadan from 3,000 to 5,000.

The gesture comes in line with Sheikh Zayed's numerous initiatives to help the Palestinian people in their present situation, said Emirates’ official news agency (WAM).

It also comes as part of Sheikh Zayed's efforts to protect Islamic holy sites, including the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is now “the target of conspiracy to rob its Arab and Islamic identity,” said the agency.

In a statement, Khalifa Nasir Al Suwaidi, RCS Board Chairman, thanked Sheikh Zayed for the new gesture.

Al Suwaidi said that the new gesture, which reflects Sheikh Zayed's great care for Palestinians and for Islamic holy sites, will alleviate the sufferings of the Palestinian people.

He was quoted by WAM as saying that the RCS was undertaking a number of projects in Jerusalem at a total cost of about $6million, adding that those projects include maintenance work on the Al Aqsa Mosque, equipping the Al Aqsa Clinic and other charity works in Jerusalem – Albawaba.com
