ALBAWABA - A McDonald's ad from Japan that consists of a series of animated videos drawn by an artist called Urachan was shared on social media, but who knew a cute anime-styled video of a family enjoying a meal would spark controversy in the West?

The family is seen eating chicken nuggets and fries together in their kitchen while the other video has a group of friends eating outside of McDonald's.

Why are some users angry over McDonald's ad?

The videos accumulated millions of views but not everybody on X (formerly known as Twitter) was happy about it.

According to Niche Gamer, a small group of angry social media users took to McDonald's official X post to write their disapproval of the ad with a group of critics saying that they are spreading “right-wing propaganda”.

Other users said that the family looked "white" although Urachan, the artist behind the animated video has a style inspired by Japanese anime.

Others were "begging" Japanese artists to do the bare minimum by giving characters black/dark brown hair so they could resemble Asians.

Other X users defended the ad by saying:

"I’ve read a comment that says: “The reason this ad blew up is because it's alien to us, for the West is no longer capable of producing basic messaging that speaks to the core of being human.” And I couldn’t agree more."

"The West could learn a thing or two from Japan."
