ALBAWABA - A company, specialized in DNA and genetic modification, has sparked wide controversy and criticism over its latest ads in New York City.
The genetic engineering startup has promoted a "genetic enhancement" service for future children, in a move that many consider shocking and unacceptable.
The ads, which appeared on digital billboards and building facades, featured images of people with perfect features and strange slogans such as "Get a genetically modified baby with perfect features for $10,000," which some considered an objectification of humanity and an insult to childhood.
The fertility startup, Nucleus Genomics, showcased embryo screening to predict a baby’s height and intelligence, which parents can decide before birth as part of their 'Have Your Best Baby' campaign.
According to the New York Post, the company not only offers to choose the baby's IQ and height, but people can also pick their perfect hair and eye colors that they want for their children as the company uses "IVF to create designer babies," igniting concerns about the ethical and religious implications behind the campaign.
