The New York Times slammed amid Aaron Bushnell's article
A user posted, "Not just the headline, this entire New York Times article on the man who just self-immolated does mention his comments that he can no longer be complicit in genocide. Not once. It does not mention any direct connection between his action and Israel’s genocide in Gaza."
Another user added, "Man bursts into flames in front of the Israeli embassy. The hacks at the New York Times gave no reason. He was fed up with Israeli genocide that is facilitated with US bombs and weapons, paid for with our tax dollars, and whitewashed by our illustrious paper of record".
Users also claimed that the article was later updated and edited by The New York Times because of the alleged backlash the news outlet received. It was claimed that the news outlet later updated the article as it quoted Aaron with, "I will no longer be complicit with genocide" and "I'm about to engage in an extreme act of protest".
At the same time, he poured liquid metal on himself, set his body on fire, and said "Free Palestine!".
