ALBAWABA - A viral trend is dominating the internet after adults in China were spotted with pacifiers inside their mouths, triggering mixed reactions and an ick feeling for some people.
It is well-known that the pacifier is made in the first place to comfort babies, but not in China, where the "adult pacifier" has emerged so quickly among grown-ups.
Social media platforms exploded with videos and photos of adults enjoying pacifiers, claiming that they can help in relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety.

However, medical professionals raised fears and concerns regarding the negative effects of the "adult pacifier" on overall health. If it is being used for a long time, it can cause oral problems, including tooth damage, in addition to misalignment.
A report by The Cover revealed that adult silicone or rubber pacifiers are being sold on e-commerce websites for about between 10 and 500 yuan ($1.39 to $69.33). For instance, on Amazon, a pack of 5 adult pacifiers are being sold for around $25.
