ALBAWABA - As the Israeli aggression on Gaza continues, one Palestinian activist named Osama Qashoo launched 'Gaza Cola,' an alternative to brands like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo to rebuild a hospital destroyed by Israeli strikes, according to The Guardian.
Moreover, the London-based beverage was also launched amid the plethora of boycott campaigns created against Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and products that have links to Israel and its ongoing aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.
His noble cause of trying to fix a small dent in a sea of rubble caused by ongoing Israeli airstrikes was recognized across social media by fellow pro-Palestine users and activists, whilst also making headlines for further reach and recognition.
Palestinian launches 'Gaza Cola' to rebuild destroyed hospital
According to The Guardian, the 43-year-old filmmaker, Palestinian activist, and now beverage maker specifically aims to rebuild North Gaza's Al-Karama Hospital and wrote, "It’s been reduced to rubble for no just reason, like all of these hospitals in Gaza."
His reason for choosing Al-Karama Hospital over other destroyed ones across Gaza is its relatively small size. He said, "It’s small, it’s quite manageable, it doesn’t cost a lot of money," but he didn't disclose the cost and time it would take to rebuild.
On the contrary, Qashoo is already looking into the hospital's new design and the best medical equipment, but for the time being, they've built a field hospital using parachutes that dropped during aid airdrops from other countries.
'Gaza Cola' comes in a red can with Arabic calligraphy letters, the Palestinian flag, and the keffiyeh printed on it in reference to Palestine's vibrant culture and impact on the world.
According to its official website, "Gaza cola is a product of Palestine House, London. A BDS-friendly alternative soft drink. All profits go to rebuilding hospitals in Gaza." It was launched back in November 2023 amid the boycott movement of Israeli-linked products across the globe.
