ALBAWABA - New military equipment was spotted in Sudan amid the ongoing war which began on April 15. Reports said that the captured military equipment is Israelis and is being used by Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Eekad investigative platform analyzed footage sent from Sudan and investigated the relationship between Israel and RSF and why is Israeli military equipment being seen used by its fighters.
Eekad shared a report questioning whether the RSF has secret ties with the Israeli government or whether Tel Aviv is sending weapons to assist the forces amid war.
According to the report, RSF, which is led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, generally referred to as Hemedti, said that a new rocket launcher model was spotted for the first time last September amid attacks on the headquarters of the General Command of the Sudanese Army.
After confirming that the rocket launcher was used by RSF forces by analyzing military suits and the targets of the attacks, Eekad further stressed that the rocket launcher is LAR-160, Israeli-made equipment.
The LAR-160 has a caliber of 160 mm, and can fire about 26 missiles at a time, with a range of up to 55 kilometers, the report added.
According to Eekad's report, the rocket launcher is only produced in several foreign countries; Israel, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, and Azerbaijan.
And by investigating allegations and reports by other media outlets, Eekad said that Hemedti wanted to establish independent and secret relations with Israel to grant its support for his agenda in Sudan.
Nevertheless, the Israeli Walla website reported a secret meeting between Hemedti and Israeli intelligence officials, led by Intelligence Minister Yossi Cohen, in August 2020.
In 2023 and after the war started in Sudan, Youssef Ezzat, political advisor and envoy of the RSF, confirmed via Israeli Kan Channel call that "they are being exposed to is similar to the 'terrorism' that Israel suffered from Hamas and the resistance factions."
