ALBAWABA - The Taliban recently made headlines after announcing that it will close down all NGOs (Non-governmental organizations) that employ Afghani women resulting in backlash from women's rights activists across social media platforms, according to AP.

This all comes in amid claims that Afghani women are not wearing the Islamic headscarf properly. Moreover, the Economy Ministry took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday and wrote that if the organizations in question fail to comply, they will lose their license to work in Afghanistan.

Recent reports also indicate that both men and women working in NGOs were stopped by the Taliban's morality police.

The statement included a warning which read, "In case of lack of cooperation, all activities of that institution will be canceled and the activity license of that institution, granted by the ministry, will also be canceled."

According to the UN Security Council, several women were also stopped from doing their work by the Taliban despite relief work being needed. Other than working in NGOs, many women were also prevented from working in different fields, being spotted in public, and receiving education after the sixth grade.
