ALABWABA - Photos circulated on social media of a weird statue of one of the world's top football players Cristiano Ronaldo in Iran has sparked a wave of mockey.
According to some, a statue of the Portuguese footballer was placed in the lobby of the hotel where Roanldo was staying during his visit to Iran.
However, the facial expressions of the statue were a little bit different than the real ones of the football star which caused a fuss on social media.
"This looks like anything but Cristiano Ronaldo," fans of the footballer wrote. Some others wrote: "This statue looks like an Iraqi actor."
Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in the Iranian capital with the Al Nassr squad ahead of the AFC Champions League game against Persepolis FC on Sept. 19.
The Portuguese footballer was greeted by hundreds of football fans in Tehran.
Furthermore, Al Jazeera reported that Tehran municipality placed banners to welcome and cheer Ronaldo and his teammates across Tehran which is written in Farsi, English and Arabic.
