ALBAWABA - A video, shared by Yevgeny Prigozhin, was the first since the rebellion against Russia on June 23. The clip sparked debate about the place where the Wagner Group leader is currently in.
In the video, Yevgeny Prigozhin appears in a place surrounded by desert and sand triggering massive social media discussion about whether the Wagner chief has headed to Africa after the rebellion.
In early August, rumors circulated on social media claiming that Wagner members have arrived in Niger following a request by coup leaders after overturning President of Niger Mohamed Bazoum.
According to some unconfirmed reports, a team of advisors and trainers from the Wagner Group reached the capital of Niger, Niamey in August. However, some other sources rejected the claims.
In the video, said: "We are working. Temperature +50°. Everything we love. The Wagner Group conducts reconnaissance and search activities. Makes Russia even greater on all continents! And Africa is even more free. Justice and happiness for the African peoples. Nightmare of "ISIS", "Al-Qaeda" and other terrorists. We hire real heroes and continue to fulfill the tasks that were set and to which we made a promise that we could handle it."
A person commented: "Where are we heading as Africa?" another added: "Yevgeny Prigozhin appears in Africa."
In another post on Telegram, Prigozhin declared the opening of a new investment office in the Central African Republic and invited investors from Russia to invest in the African country.
