Colombians have entered the 4th week of of anti-government rallies; unions, student groups and others continue demonstrations asking for a social change amid intermittent talks between the government and organizers of the strike.
Anti-government rallies is said to be violent by both police and civilians. The attorney general’s office has announced 15 deaths connected to protests, while one human rights group tallies over 40.
Furthermore, the Colombian president has earlier ordered the clearance of road blockades, which have caused shortages of food and gasoline.
The anti-government rallies was first kicked off the tax plan which was later canceled, but now the rallies expanded to include demands like a basic income, an end to police violence and opportunities for young people.
