Floyd's Family Vindicated, Murderer Goes to Jail

George Perry Floyd, is an African American man who was killed by police during his arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 25, 2020, after a store clerk alleged he had passed a counterfeit $20 bill .

Former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin was convicted Tuesday for premeditated murder and manslaughter for tying George Floyd to the sidewalk with his knee to the neck of the  Black man, In case that touched off worldwide protests.Three weeks after the testimony, the trial of the former police officer accused of killing George Floyd ended and After the jury deliberations, the verdicts were stating that Chauvin was guilty, soon he was handcuffed and taken to prison.

Chauvin, 45, could be sent to prison for decades, when he is sentenced  in a case led to the outbreak of many protests and violence around the world and the re-outbreak of racism in the United States.

The verdict evoked many feelings mixed with joy and sadness around the city. Lots of people took to the streets in Minneapolis, others got into their cars and blared their horns in celebration. President Joe Biden welcomed the verdict, saying Floyd’s death was “a murder in full light of day, and it ripped the blinders off for the whole world” to see systemic racism  .also he warned “It’s not enough. We can’t stop here. We’re going to deliver real change and reform. We can and we must do more to reduce the likelihood that tragedies like this will ever happen again.”

''Today, we are able to breathe again,” Floyd's little brother said tears streaming from his eyes at a press conference with the victim's family.
