Arsenal's Sagna hints at January exit

Bacary Sagna is free to discuss terms with clubs from abroad in January, as his contract runs out in just over six months. He is widely tipped to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, but his latest interview appears to suggest that he may leave as early as in January.

Despite the emergence of Carl Jenkinson, Sagna has been Arsenal's best right back for the last few years. However, with his contract nearly up, Sagna's future still isn't clear.

There seems to be no signs that he is about to sign a new contract. According to the Metro, he said to a French radio station that there was a possibility of leaving in January, although contract talks are still taking place. He said:

"It’s an option [leaving in January]. We are in talks with Arsenal, and I hope we can arrive at something.

"I do not regret my seven years here."

Sagna has been offered a two-year contract by Arsenal, but the 30-year-old has not yet accepted it. He has been linked heavily with Paris St Germain, although they are well covered in this position after Gregory van der Wiel's impressive performances this campaign.

The Frenchman is reportedly not happy with the way Arsenal have been selling top players in the last few years, but the club redeemed itself to some extent following the signing of Mesut Ozil in the summer. More are expected to follow in the upcoming transfer windows, but the hurt caused by the departure of Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas appears to linger in the mind of Sagna. He continued:

"I was upset, angry when players left. If we had them today it would make a massive difference.

"Since 2007, a very competitive team left. It’s a club I love so much but something is missing."

He has been one of the best right backs in the country since his arrival in 2007. Despite suffering major injuries in the last couple of years, he still continues to be a major player for Arsenal. He has made 18 appearances and scored one goal this season.
