Arsenal v Chelsea: Projected lineups

Published December 22nd, 2013 - 10:36 GMT

Arsenal have a massive test on their hands as Chelsea travel across town to the Emirates in one of the biggest London Derby's of the season thus far.

The Gunners were surpassed at the top of the table by Liverpool Saturday morning and the only way they can reclaim their place is by defeating Jose Mourinho's Blues at home.

Both sides have four wins, a draw and a loss in their last six matches and their current forms are comparable.

However the last six meetings between the two have seen the Blues win three times and the Gunners twice with a draw rounding out their results.

The two will certainly have to have the bit between their teeth as the victor will either be top or be level with Liverpool at the top and both club's fans are eager to see what their sides are made of.

Arsenal are still returning to full fitness and Jack Wilshere will be serving his suspension following his actions last week against Manchester City and is set to be replaced by Theo Walcott once again retaining his place in the first team.

Chelsea are only missing Michael Essien whom is suspended as Ryan Bertrand and Marco Van Ginkel remain long term absentees. The controversial decision of the week is Mourinho claiming he has benched Ashley Cole for having spent time with the Arsenal players, but the former Gunner has been on the sidelines thanks to Mourinho for weeks now in the first place.

It is certain to be a lively match on Monday afternoon as the two hottest sides in London come face to face with the top of the table in the balance.

Arsenal XI: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs; Ramsey, Arteta; Walcott, Ozil, Cazorla; Giroud.

Chelsea XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Azpilicueta; Mikel, Ramires; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.
