Barcelona will report a tweet by Malaga president Abdullah Al-Thani which "threatens the principles of fair play" in La Liga, the Catalan club said Thursday.
Al-Thani published a tweet which said: "The scum from Catalunya will not get a sniff of the league after their lies about Michel (Malaga's coach)."
Malaga host Real Madrid in the last league game of the season on May 21 and with both Los Blancos and Barcelona on 78 points, the title race could come down to the final day.
Asked by a Barcelona fan to beat Madrid at La Rosaleda, Al-Thani's response on the social media network provoked alarm at the Catalan club.
They issued a statement reading: "FC Barcelona expresses its rejection of and indignation towards the contents of a tweet published by the president of Malaga CF, Abdullah Al-Thani, with sentiments that threaten the principles of fair play, of ethics and the legality that should govern sporting competition.
"For this reason the club will report this case to the Anti-Violence Committee, the Superior Council for Sport and will refer the matter to the competition committee of the Spanish football federation (RFEF) and La Liga's Department of Integrity."
Michel, a former Madrid player, previously hinted in an interview with radio station Onda Cero, that he would not deny Los Blancos the title on the final day of the season.
Asked about Jorge Valdano, another former Madrid man, foiling his old side on the last day while coaching Tenerife, to Barcelona's benefit, Michel said: "I am much more Madridista [than Valdano]."
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was asked if he had faith in Malaga to beat Madrid after Michel's comments, on Wednesday after his team thrashed Osasuna 7-1 at Camp Nou.
He replied: "If my grandmother had wheels, she would be a bicycle."
