Coach Georges Leekens has resigned as Algeria coach on Tuesday after the team was eliminated at the group stage of the ongoing Africa Cup in Gabon.
The 67-year-old Belgian Leekens was given the Algeria job at the end of October last year having previously led his own country and Tunisia in a distinguished coaching career dating from 1984.
Algeria were knocked out of the Africa Cup following draws with Zimbabwe and Senegal, and a loss to Tunisia.
