Nabil Maaloul has been named as the new coach of Tunisia’s national soccer team, the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) announced on Thursday.

Maaloul is taking over from Franco-Polish Henryk Kasperzcak who was sacked last March after two friendly matches lost to Cameroon in Monastir (0-1) and to Morocco in Marrakech (0-1).

Nabil Maaloul had trained the national team in 2013 but had resigned after the failure of the Carthage Eagles to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in South Africa.

He was assistant coach of Roger Lemerre, when the national team won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004.

He also served as head coach of Kuwait’s national team in 2015.

Nabil Maaloul will be presented to the media on Monday, May 1, 2017 at a press conference in the presence of FTF President Wadie Jery.
