Networking solutions company Avaya, will present a selection of its Wireless solutions for small–to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) during the Microsoft Business Forum, a 12-city road show, taking place across the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean until the end of this month. Avaya's Wireless Residential Gateway 1 (RG 1) and Access Point II (AP II) offerings will be used to manage delegate registrations during all twelve events.
The RG 1 high-speed wireless networking system is part of Avaya's Small Office & Home (SOHO) solution and is designed for small user groups, such as a family or a small office. It allows users to share resources and access the Internet through the same user name and password without the need to re-install any additional wiring. Remote network access is facilitated by a built-in 56K modem or by an Ethernet port, which connects to broadband cable, xDSL or ISDN services.
The structure of the AP II be tied to 100 Mb backbones or bridged for high capacity areas where mobile users need extensive coverage as well as for locations that are difficult to wire. A simple upgrade also allows it to be used as an outdoor router for multiple site or campus-wide network coverage.
The single interface that permits data networking for all of Avaya's wireless solutions is the Avaya Wireless PC Card. Avaya's wireless card is plugged into a notebook or PDA device. By using an adapter, it can extend wireless networks to a desktop, point of sale or other non-portable device, and, because of its inherent data protection and security features, ensures that mobile users can securely access LAN and Internet services, from anywhere around a building or corporate campus.
