ALBAWABA - Despite the settling on the legal battle between the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Microsoft last summer, the steady stream of leaks shows no sign of stopping.

This latest revelation contains a treasure trove of critical insights into Microsoft's gaming empire, including a surprising interest in acquiring Nintendo. Yet, the most electrifying revelation on their horizon is the anticipated overhaul of Xbox Series X in 2024.

The Overhauled Xbox Series X: Codenamed "Brooklin"

According to the leaked document, the revamped Series X is going by the codename "Brooklin" within the company. It's rumored that this model will boast a doubled internal storage capacity, reaching a capacious 2 TB, and is set to feature Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. What's more, the leak hints at a more streamlined, cylindrical design compared to the original Series X's angular boxiness.

Perhaps the most significant departure in Microsoft's strategy is the abandonment of the disc drive. The elimination of Xbox's disc drive could hasten the decline of physical game discs. As per the documents, Microsoft plans to retail the overhauled Series X at a price point of $499.

Additionally, the leaked documents signal Microsoft's intention to launch a brand-new Xbox controller, tentatively known as "Sebile," next year. This controller is rumored to incorporate features such as "precise tactile feedback," quieter buttons, and modular thumbsticks. It's also anticipated that pairing and device switching will be smoother thanks to new mobile app features.

Microsoft is gearing up to unveil the new gaming controller come May. The introduction of the refreshed Xbox Series X and Series S is penciled in for June. Fans can expect the rejuvenated Series S, sporting a $299 price tag, to hit shelves around August or September, with the revamped $499 Xbox Series X following shortly after, perhaps a month or two later.

The Next-Gen Xbox: A "Cloud-Hybrid" Revolution?

The next-generation Xbox console is tentatively slated for a 2028 release and is rumored to be capable of supporting "cloud-hybrid gaming."

Details about this enigmatic console remain scant, but it's evident that Microsoft has been diligently exploring the fusion of cloud technology with gaming. There are even hints that certain games on the next-gen Xbox may require a mandatory internet connection.

Sneak Peek at Upcoming Games

It appears that new iterations of beloved franchises, such as Doom and Dishonored, are in the pipeline, poised to thrill gamers in the near future. Notably, the documents also drop hints about the potential remastering of classics like Fallout 3 and Oblivion, along with a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo.
