ALBAWABA – Google, the multinational corporation and technology company, said it will keep third-party cookies in its Chrome browser and will not delete it as announced in 2020, reported by Reuters.

Google announced removing third-party cookies from Chrome in 2020

Google said it would remove third-party cookies from its Chrome browser in 2020 as an act of stopping companies and other parties from tracking users. Cookies are data that is always stored in web browsers like Chrome, companies and marketers make use of this data to track users and create effective ads.

After four years of negotiating this matter, the company stated its finally giving up on this decision and will be keeping the cookies in Chrome. Google will instead implement other options that give users total freedom on what and how to share their details.

Google phasing out but will provide options

As an act of phasing out, Google created: Privacy Sandbox, an initiative led by Google to create web standards for websites to access user information without compromising privacy. Anthony Chavez, vice president of Privacy Sandbox, announced Google’s decision yesterday and provided more details on the alternative options available.

Chavez stated: "Google will be introducing new options that let users make their own choices and they will be given the option to adjust their settings and choices all the time.”

Google announced discussing its new decision with government agencies in the United Kingdom and European Union before moving forward.
