Following up on the initiative granting a grace period for illegal residents in the UAE, sources indicate that the period will coincide with the visa application period for the 1-year emergency residency given for victims of wars and disasters.

The time period to rectify illegal residency in the UAE will begin from August 1, 2018, till October 31, as given by Emarat Al Youm report.

The period will also coincide with the visa extension period allocated for women who have been recently widowed.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship is preparing to launch the "Protect Yourself by Modifying Your Status" initiative, implementing the Cabinet's decision and allow for a grace period for illegal residents to rectify their status.
