British Airways celebrates opening of London olympic games at the British Council

British Ambassador James Watt and British Council Director Mark Stephens co-hosted recently an event to celebrate the opening of London Olympic Games at the British Council in Agouza. Combining the traditional suhor of a Ramadan night with the global celebration in London, nearly 300 guests attended the festive evening event where the opening ceremony was broadcast on two large screens in the garden.
In addition to the Olympic celebration, the evening was also a chance for the British Council to announce the winners of their recent art and writing competitions as well as a grand prize draw for two British Airways return air tickets Cairo to London, courtesy of British Airways for attending guests. “As a London-based airline, we are extremely proud to support athletes from around the world,” said Mervat Alfy, British Airways Commercial Manager in Egypt. “We are honored to be part of such a historic celebration and, on this occasion we are happy to award two return tickets to London to two lucky guests.”
To give sports fans in London the superior experience they’ve come to expect from British Airways; ‘Park Live presented by British Airways’ is the place for spectators to go during the games. Park Live, a dedicated area for up to 10,000 fans with picnic lawns across acres of newly created parklands in the Olympic Park, is the only place in the Olympic Park to watch live action on giant screens and see the athletes interviewed on the British Airways stage.
