President of the American University of Beirut (AUB) Dr. Fadlo R. Khuri appointed AUB Trustee Hisham Jaroudi as the Interim President of Worldwide AUB Alumni Association (WAAAUB).

“As you already know, the AUB Board of Trustees, the University’s administration, and the alumni leadership have started deliberations regarding a new vision and governance structure for the Worldwide AUB Alumni Association (WAAAUB),” President Khuri said in his message.

He added: “As we continue to work on the transition, it is my pleasure to announce to you the appointment of Trustee Alumnus Hisham Jaroudi as the interim president of the WAAAUB.”

Khuri continued: “Mr. Jaroudi has been serving on the AUB Board of Trustees since 2015, after being elected to the Board by the alumni at large. He has graduated from AUB with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1966. He is the founder of the real estate consulting and engineering firm in Lebanon, as well as the Izzat Jaroudi Foundation and the Beirut Heritage Foundation. Mr. Jaroudi serves as the President of the Sporting Club of Beirut since 1990. He is well known for his philanthropic endeavors and civic responsibility.”

“Mr. Jaroudi has a challenging mission leading the AUB alumni association in this transitory phase. He is more than up to the task, as an accomplished, gracious, determined and dedicated son of AUB. As previously communicated, and in consultation with the WAAAUB Board of Directors, it has been decided that alumni elections will not be held until the new structure for our alumni association is in place. Chapters continue to work closely with the administration and the Alumni Relations Office at AUB”, he said.

Khuri concluded in extending “our warmest welcome and in thanking Trustee Jaroudi for accepting to serve in this role, and for his devotion to the University and its causes, as we embark on the many important challenges and opportunities of the coming years.”
