A court in Cairo, Egypt has fined the young Lebanese artist Miriam Faris 2,000 Egyptian pounds for singing in clubs and hotels in Egypt without obtaining the proper license to perform.

The correct license should have been obtained from the ministry of cultural affairs.

The Cairo court first sentenced Miriam to one month in prison and a fine of 10,000 Egyptian pounds, yet she appealed the ruling.

When she was first arrested her bail was set at 200 Egyptian pounds.
