ALBAWABA - Megan Thee Stallion was granted a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez.
According to court documents that PEOPLE was able to access, the 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is Megan Pete, received a restraining order against 32-year-old Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, through January 9, 2030.
According to Variety, Megan Thee Stallion had "sustained burden of proof" in a strong case, and on Thursday, January 9, Judge Richard Bloom of the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County confirmed the decision.
According to reporter Nancy Dillon, the judge emphasized "several uncontroverted facts," including "conduct that culminated in [Tory Lanez] shooting approximately 5 rounds at petitioner that resulted in her injury."

Reporter Meghann Cuniff reported that Megan stated in court, "I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it."
"Unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or stalking," according to court documents, is the basis for the order.
On December 17, Megan Thee Stallion filed a restraining order against Lanez, asking the judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court to stop him from allegedly harassing her from outside of prison while he is serving a 10-year sentence.
According to the court records, despite receiving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Ms. Pete, "Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization."
In his own complaint, Lanez accused Megan of "weaponizing the justice system" in his Dec. 24 response to the lawsuit.
"When a celebrity with millions of dollars and backing from a large corporation disagrees with free speech or opinions, they weaponize the justice system, failing to understand that they are public figures who voluntarily catapult themselves into the limelight, unable to deal with the controversy and public opinions," the papers stated.

The complex relationship between Megan and Lanez began in July 2020 when he shot Megan in the feet during an incident in the Hollywood Hills.
Lanez faced charges in October of that year for carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and personal use of a firearm.
In December 2022, following a nine-day trial, the court found him guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unlicensed handgun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
Lanez received a 10-year prison sentence in August 2023.
